How are PTC Funds Used?

To offer the many programs described below, the PTC relies on the generous support of Broadmeadow parents.  The PTC holds just three major fundraisers throughout the school year.  The success of these campaigns determines the number of programs we are able to provide.

  • Invest In Our Children is our largest campaign of the year, and as a direct contribution fundraiser, 100% of all proceeds benefit the PTC.

  • Gift Wrap Fundraiser held in the fall through Innisbrook in which 50% of proceeds go to the PTC.

  • A Girl Thing, an evening of friends, fun and philanthropy, including a silent auction, held in the spring.

The following sections describe the many ways in which PTC funds are used.  To see the planned budget for each of the areas below, click here.

ENRICHMENT

  • Curriculum Enrichment - These performances, author studies and interactive presentations for Broadmeadow children are one of the primary expenditures for the PTC.

  • Teacher Enrichment Grants - These funds are given to Broadmeadow teachers, specialists and staff to directly augment our children's education.

  • Media Center - Purchases for our school library are supported by funds raised by the annual Book Fair and the Birthday Book program.

  • Other Enrichment Programs - The PTC funds other enrichment programs such as Beautification, publication of the school literary magazine The Meadows, participation in the Child Assault Prevention Program (CAPP), Health and Wellness programs, Math Enrichment volunteers and Parent/Child book clubs.

FAMILY & CHILDREN'S EVENTS

  • Family Events - The PTC funds a variety of fun events throughout the year that help build a strong Broadmeadow community.  The PTC also sponsors a Class Day and a DVD for graduating 5th graders.

OUTREACH

  • Broadmeadow Community Outreach - A number of committees work to welcome and assist our numerous Broadmeadow families.  They sponsor Principal welcome coffees, Kindergarten playground gatherings, diversity awareness, disability awareness, NEF Spelling Bee sponsorship, field trip scholarships, a directory for all Broadmeadow families, support of the PTC website, a Teacher Appreciation luncheon, environmental awareness, refreshments for PTC meetings, playground equipment, activities for our METCO friends, and assistance through the caring committee.   The PTC also sponsors a Holiday and Year-End Thank You fund for Broadmeadow staff.

  • Service Projects - Numerous service projects are supported throughout the year including the large "Pare and Share" project in the fall for the Pine Street Inn.  There is also a student service committee for 3rd to 5th graders.

 SIMMONS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

  • Intern Program - Over the past few years, Broadmeadow has developed a partnership with Simmons College Graduate School of Education which has placed MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) candidates as full year interns in our classrooms under the supervision of our professional staff.  This has allowed for co-teaching in many of our classrooms, thereby ensuring that a majority of our students get increased individual and small group instruction.  By virtue of this relationship, many of our teachers have been able to take advantage of continuing education and professional growth opportunities at Simmons.
